'Daddy ...it hurts'

This poem was sent to me by Robin a member of CS.

My name is Chris, I am three, My eyes are swollen. I cannot see. I must be stupid, I must be bad, What else could have made, My daddy so mad? I wish I were better, I wish I weren't ugly, Then maybe my mommy, Would still want to hug me. I can't do a wrong, I can't speak at all, Or else I'm locked up, All day long. When I'm awake, I'm all alone, The house is dark, My folks aren't home. When my mommy does come home, I'll try and be nice, So maybe… Continue

Emily's Fund

Does everyone remember when Dawn brought to our attention the little 1 1/2 year old Emily back in December??

Well I tried an experiment where I work to test the waters. I asked all the employees to donate $2.00 per month to "A Coffee for Emily Fund". Guess what?? Most of the employees came forward without to much prompting to give the $2.00 and some gave a bit more. Now I'm going to try a few more companies I know to see if they will do the same.

I thought I'd mention this to see if others on… Continue

Thanks, nice to be here and Canada is one of my favourite places, so feels like a warm welcome. Went out to Canada to see their approach to DV and it is so very different to hear in the UK, kind regards J

Stephanie, why am I thinking that the Judge has some issues in some dark corner of his life? "Law and justice are not always the same" -Gloria Steinem .......I just used this quote the other day. And how true it is.

Hi Richard,

In answer to your questions, I’m a certified Paralegal, though I haven’t worked as one in over 20 years. I have spent my career in Human Resources both internal to organizations, as an independent consultant. Tracy and I see this as a movie too – and we’re pursuing that along with publishing the book. It’s high time we had a major motion picture about a real woman – haven’t we had enough football hero movies?

In Tracy’s case the jury was so in dark that they weren’t able to make an informed decision. The judge would not allow any of Tracy’s ex-husband’s previous crimes to be discussed or divulged. A former girlfriend, who’d suffered a choking attack at knife point, came forward to testify on Tracy’s behalf. The judge wouldn’t allow her into the courtroom. What he did do, was to allow any and all of Tracy’s past history and legal scrapes be fully disclosed. He allowed the fact that there were traces of meth in her mother’s system, which was interpreted as a danger to the ex-husband during the fight. What he did do was ensure that the ex-husband looked like an upstanding, well-dressed guy – by lending him one of his own suits.

History repeated itself in the civil trial when the judge in that case never allowed the jury to know that Tracy’s attorney’s were pro-bono lawyers from the Never Again Foundation and so the jury believed this was a woman with enough money to hire lawyers – with the goal of getting even more. The judge never allowed the jurors to know the defendant before them was currently a felon, serving time for “aggravated assault”. The judge never let the former girlfriend testify, just like in the criminal trial. The fact that a juror never disclosed in voir dire that she was also a victim of DV, but believed it was God’s plan and women shouldn’t complain, was one less vote for advocacy that the attorneys never knew until after the verdict.

Hi Richard, it'a not that I am being threatend now, it's when my sister and some women came down and threatend my family in 2006, and I almost died the day they left. They tried some type of exercist of some sort on me, and told me "brigette doesn't exist" they also said if I were to go through with the Inquiry, " they come in two, and they will kill your family" Yesterday I spoke with the Freedom of Info to get the records of the charge and what was being done, " police say, nothing, no charge. They believe my sister and the nut that came down with her. That is why I am upset, there is no justice. I don't know what to do anymore. I will try to talk with you tomorrow, it's 12:38am. Bye for now

Thank you Richard...for everything that you have done and are doing...today I am very weak..I will have to talk with you when I am feeling emotionaly better. I went into a panic today and Jim had to tell me to slow down or I will end up in the hospital again. It's just so hard when you hear that another ocurrence happened and the police won't do anything about it. No justice when someone tries to threaten you or your family, no justice when your father rapes you, no justice when priests rape you or the uncles. There is no justice and I can't find more people to sign the petition and it makes me very sad that 44 people are the only ones that have a heart out there that signed. I don't know if I am making sense right now...i have to go. bye for now
