Thanks,
i'm still fighting for our lives.
the family courts our giving abusers custody.
Mine has joint legal and supeervied vists.Even though he pleaded down to child abuse.(A horriblr botched plea deal)! Basically what the Family Courts our saying is>If it's the father he can kidnap you, abuse you and torture you and the kids.
He isn't going to loose custody. So,they have left us in a more dangerous situation than before.except were alive now.
I have written all to document what we have endured. Not published!
most people when then they hear what my family has endured they cry and our in shock!
I just returned from:
http://www.batteredmotherscustodyconference.org/
This is a national Crisis!
woman our lossing custody to the abuser.
The thye have to fight to see there own kids.Just because they cried wolf.
www.angelfury.org
explains all.
Until we unite and change the laws. The children will continue to be forced to live w/ the abuser.
This is a shame. That our country USA is hiding this from the public.
The media shame on them.they aren't reporting whats really happening!
All they focus on is woman and children dead.Too late.
Thanks Star

I want to say hello and hope I can help in anyway. I have been through 4 marriages of abuse and grew up in abuse. Now I stand for all that are in or out of abuse. Visit www.awayout4all.org My organization sponsors many programs as we sell my autobiography Journey of a Lost Child, 30% goes to organizations in need. I hope to sponsor this one. Anything I can do just ask.

I started Women Going Forward, The First National Women's Telephone Group in May of 2007 and we have been growing every week.
I started this group for two reasons; we get stuck and we often lack the support and encouragement to get unstuck.
I know that every problem is solved by, first, acknowledging that there is one, second, finding the tools, encouragement, inspiration and support (that’s where our group comes in) and third, ultimately making the decision and taking the steps to change your life.
My life and my novels are based on this principle. I was raised without a father, sexually abused when I was a child, married an abusive man and eventually found myself homeless. I was stuck in certain beliefs about others and myself. I was out of control in taking the role as a victim. I ran from bad relationship to bad relationship. I medicated the pain by using all sorts of distractions. I was in survival mode and terribly unhappy.
Once I admitted I was the common denominator, I reached out for help and made the decision to fix my life. It was challenging but one of the most important times in my life - One of the best times of my life.
It’s hard to explain my life today, it seems boring compared to the chaos I used to embrace. But what I can say, is that I’ve never laughed so much, I’ve never felt safer, more loved, more content, or happier than I am right now today.
Our group is not made up of counselors; we are women who have gotten through pain. We are women who are still in pain. We are supporting and reminding each other how far we still have to go, but more importantly, how far we have come.
We are Women Going Forward and that must be the focus. All of us are strong, capable, incredible women who deserve to laugh, love, be loved and live amazing lives with all our dreams coming true!

She has been speaking at high schools. Her name is Melody Byrne of Melody Speaks. Melodyspeaks.com or contact her at Melody@melodyspeaks.com. I wanted to pass that along. I'll get more about Women Going Forward to you tomorrow. Thanks again and take care.

Ellen,

I may need to discuss certain issue of child/women's abuse with you in the next short time and get your advise. I have just posted a new forum topic and will be lobbying companies in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada in the very near future. I will be asking them to create a Domestic Violence Program inhouse. It's going to be a huge Dragon and I will need all the ammunition I can get and use.

Thanking you in advance,

Richard

What Is Your ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) Score?

By Ellen Taliaferro, MD

Can the woes and traumas of your yesterdays take a toll on your state of health today? Indeed they can and do. At least that's what our grandmothers always seemed to know.

Now, thanks in large part to the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study, medical research validates this concept. Dr. Vincent Felitti, Founder of the Department of Preventive Medicine in Kaiser Permanente in San Diego, and his collea… Continue

Strangulation discussion/forum started

If you haven't seen it yet, please visit the forum section of this network to see the new discussion on strangulation. No need to go right this minute as you can see it here:

Strangulation

Did you know that manual strangulation is a very common form of domestic violence physical assault?

Further, strangulation seems to be an "orphan" medical event with no one medical specialty focusing on this form of assault. In addition, professionals working with victims of domestic violence now rea

Cinderella Worldwide

On my recent trip to Texas I had the good fortune to visit with Drs. Don Smith and Sharon Walker, former colleagues from our time spent together in Dallas at Parkland Hospital in the Violence Intervention Prevention (VIP) Center. We discussed the use of story to teach the fundamentals of Domestic Violence prevention and intervention. I mentioned that I had just used the fairy tale of Cinderella as a vehicle for an all-day training in Mt. Pleasant, TX.

This prompted a new question: This might wo… Continue
